Kit Information

Fabric

Some kits use Aida, others Evenweave. Bookmarks are sewn on Aida band, and in these kits I have also included backing felt and bonding fabric so that the project can be fully completed.

Threads

I have used anchor threads, which are pre-mounted on thread cards and marked with the shade number, appropriate symbol, how many strands should be used when sewing and a note of how many lengths are included. Enough thread to complete the design is included, but if necessary extra lengths will be supplied free of charge if you contact me with details of the kit you have purchased, shade colour and quantity required.

Needle

Each kit includes a needle of the appropriate size for the fabric supplied with the kit.

Chart

The standard chart supplied is printed in black and white; the charts for larger designs are printed over several pages so that the symbols are large enough to see. If you wish to have the chart printed with colour symbols, colour blocks under black symbols or enlarged further this can be done for a small price.

Instructions

Comprehensive instructions are included in each kit, details on how to get started, how to sew the specific stitch types used in the kit you have purchased, how to interpret the chart and how to prepare your finished project for mounting.

How to Order

1. Decide which type of conversion you would like:

Your picture will be scanned and if necessary adjusted to give the best colours and definition, then a chart generated which will include all of the detail and background present in the original.

*  Modified Conversion Your picture will be scanned and adjusted as in the straight conversion, but other alterations can also be done to your specifications, for example red-eye can be corrected, the picture can be cropped, parts can be touched up such as removing a pylon from the middle of a landscape photo, or words can be added.

2. Decide what size you would like:

   *  Medium : Sizes up to 10"x8" (25x20cm). Charts will have a maximum of 60 colours.

   *  Large : sizes up to 18"x12" (45x30cm).Charts will have a maximum of 80 colours.

3. Decide if you would like a full kit or just the chart:

Charts are usually made up only of full cross stitch, but if the picture requires I will edit the stitches to add back stitch, fractional stitches and French knots as appropriate. If you have any specific requirements as to the stitches in your kit, please give instructions on the notes section of the paypal order form or postal order form

Full Kit : Includes 28ct white evenweave fabric, needle, anchor threads sorted onto labelled thread cards, instructions and chart. If you wish to have Aida fabric supplied or a different count or colour, this can be done at no extra charge but please allow 5 extra days for delivery.

Chart Only : Includes the printed chart and thread cards labelled with the shade and quantity required to complete the project. Shades will be labelled as anchor numbers unless otherwise requested.

4. Place your Order:

This can be done online through the shop using paypal. Please include any specific instructions about alterations or fabric type in the notes section of the paypal form. Alternatively you can print the postal form and send it to me complete with a cheque.

5. Sending the Picture:

Your picture can be posted directly to me, make sure you include a note of your name and address and email address if you have paid for it on line through paypal; or emailed to me at kate@highlanddesign.co.uk again, please include a note of your name and address.

6. Making sure you get the best pictures:

Once I have received your photo and completed order, I shall email you versions of the converted picture, so that you can choose the best one. Once you have chosen the final version, I will post you the completed chart or kit.
